The Three Little Pigs | Draft

I created a draft of my fractured fairy tale.

First, I looked on my plan that I created last week and changed a few things. The things I changed were the characters and settings.

Next, I wrote down each part that happed in the real story and changed a few parts.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to write my own story use my imagination.

Fairy Tales | Week 3

I created a google doc where I changed parts of a story called the three little pigs.

First, I thought of some stories that I could use for the google doc. I chose the little pigs.

Next, I wrote the settings, characters, confleit, start, and ending.

Lastly, I created a google doc and info about the fairy tale on it.

I found this activity hard because it didint make sense somtimes.

Reading | SSR Selfie

For SSR Selfie I read a book called Nature's Deadliest Creatures.

For this task you read the book for 15 minutes and answer questions like whats the main topic for this book and what are key pieces of the main topic.

The main topic is animals and the key pieces of the main topic how dangerous animals are animal habitats and sizes.

I enjoyed reading this book because it has a lot of interesting facts.

I have read 14 pages of Alex Rider Eagle Strike.

This book talks about Alex Rider being the only one who can stop Sir Dmian Cray the most popular man in the world who is secertly a mad man bent on destruction.

I enjoyed reading this book because it has a lot of action and detail.

Today I did some step webs.

The first activity I did was Drop. In this activity you have to drag the words to the correct boxes to make a word.

I enjoyed this activity because I leart how to spell new words.
 

The Ultimate Book Of Sharks

I read the whole book of The Ultimate Book Of Sharks.

This book is about how sharks how big sharks can grow which is 20 feet, how many species of sharks there are which is over 200 and how shark rarely attack humans in fact you are more likey to killed by a cow then a shark.

I enjoyed this book because I like to read about marine life.

QAR | Reading

I used a Synthesis egg and QAR template to help me read the text Pointless  .

First I wrote in the three boxes called prior knowledge, new information, and new understandings. Prior knowledge is something you already know and new inform-ation is something new that you learnt and new understanding is something you now understand.

Afterwards we had to answer some questions and put it into a box. The boxes were: On my own, Think and search, Author and me, and Right there.

• Right there means you can point the answer in the book. 
• Think and search means the answer is in the book but you have to look in different places to find the answer. 
• Author and me means the answer is no in the text but you use your backround knowledge. 
• On my own means the answer is not in the text but you could come up with your own answers.

I learnt how to use Synthesis and QAR to help me read the text STOP THIS HORRENDOUS CRIME.

Duffy Theatre

The whole school and I watched the Duffy show

First they sang a song and introduced themselves. There were three actors and they played different roles. The roles were Duffy, Duffy's mum, Duffy's, Duffy's, sister, Duffy's aunty, and Duffy's teacher.

Afterwards Duffy and his sister were at her aunt's farm then Duffy went on his online class and started his homework while Duffy was completing his homework his aunty asked him to drive the tractor

To finish up Duffy got into an argument with his favorite because she ruined his book by sanitising his favorite book after the argument he fell in a hole and in that hole there was his aunties favorite chicken.

There was also a pile of bones that were Moa bones his aunty and his sister helped him get up. Duffy forgave his sister and became famous because the museum came to their house and took the bones and the news contacted Duffy and he became famous. in the end everyone was happy

I enjoyed the show because it showed teamwork.

Reading | Skimming and Scanning

This week we used skimming and scanning to understand a book called Against the odds. 

Scanning is the same as skimming but scanning is hovering over a text and trying to look for the the main facts. 

Skimming is the same but skimming is just going thorugh the text without stoping.       

For this activty I used skimming and scanning. I used skimming to find the keywords and use thoses keywords to find more information. I used scanning to find the main ideas so I could understand the text more and to put my facts into chronlogical order.

Next I made a table mat to find keywords, facts, ect.

I learnt a lot from doing this activty cause skimming and scanning helped by helping me find keywords and learning a lot about paralympics and other texts. 

Skimming and Scanning | New Zealand Film-makers

This week we used skimming and scanning to understand a book called New Zealand Film-makers.

Skimming is like a airiplane you look for key words only. Scanning is being a helicopter you stop on a paragraph when seeing information.

Next I made a table mat to find keywords, find facts, ect. After I shared my work with the other people in my group for them to proofread it.

Finally I wrote some questions that the author might of thought of before writting the book and the questions I thought about while reading the book.

I enjoyed this activity because skimming and scanning to helped make this task easier.

Reciprocal Reading

We used Reciprocal Reading to read two PDFs Where We Lived and What we invested.

First we decided who the leader would  be. The leader is the person who assigns the roles to the group and introduces the text.

Next we decided who the predictor would be. The predictor scans the section of text that you are about to read and predictits what the next page will be about. 

We  then decided who the clarifier would be. The the clarifier identifies tricky words, pharses, or ideas and shares them with the group.

 We decided who the questioner would be. The questioner asks questions about the text and encourages group members to elaborate on their answers and give evidence.

Lastly we decided who the summeriser would be. The summeriser thinks of the main ideas in the section we've just read.

I enjoyed being the leader because I got to introduce the new text and I believe I allocated roles to my group members well. We worked well as a team.

Reading | Harry's War Keyword

All texts include a range of words to share information with the reader.

Key words are words are words that unlock hidden information.

key are used in a specific way. An example of a key word is conscientious objectors a reminder of conscientious objectors an individual who has claimed the right to refuse to perform military service.\

Key words can also summerise texts by telling the main point of the text.

Key words can expand your volabulary for example latrine is another word for toilet but a latrine doesin't flush.

key words can help people unlock main infromation.

SSR Selfie

I read 6 pages of The Scarecrow walks at midnight.

This book is about Jodie who visits her grandparents farm. This summer some weird things have happend on the farm. The corn field is sparse, the single scarecrow was replaced with 12 evil looking ones and the corn is infensted with worms.she is trying to find out whats happing to her grandparents farm.

I thought this was a good book and wish to read the whole seris.
