Writing | Cause and Affect

We wrote cause and affect sentences for butterflies.

First we wrote the cause and effect sentences on the first stage of a caterpillar which is the eggs.

Next we wrote the cause and effect sentences on the second stage of a caterpillar which is when the egg hatches into a caterpillar.

After we wrote the cause and effect sentences on the third stage which is the chrysalis.

Afterwards we wrote the cause and effect sentences on the last stage which is the butterfly.

Lastly we put an explanation of the life cycle of the butterfly.

This was fun because I got to learn about cause and effect.

Reciprocal Reading

We used Reciprocal Reading to help us read the text Maori Pioneer Battalion.

First we decided who the leader will be. The leader is the person who assigns the roles to the group and introduces the text.

After we decided who the predictor would be. The predictor scans the section of text that you are about to read and predictits what the next page will be about.

We decided who the clarifier would be the the clarifier identifys tricky words, pharses, or ideas and shares them with the group.

Then we decided who the questioner would be. The questioner asks questions about the text and encorages group members to elaborate on their answers and give evidence.

Lastly we decided who the summeriser would be. The summeriser thinks of the main ideas in the section you just read.

The Three Simulair Simple Machine

There are three simple machines that are all similar in some way. They are the wege, the lever, and the incline plane.

Maths | Speed Demon Challenge

I attempted the speed demon challenge. I got 100/100.

My time was 4 minutes and 56 seconds.

I will practise my basic fact because I could of gone faster.

Writing

Cause and effect fit within the mechanism structure of an explanation.

Cause is where something happens.

Effect is what something or someone is doing before the cause happens.

An example of cause is every bulding in the city was destroyed.

An example of an effect is Nick slipped.

An a casual language for example therefore.

Below is an activity you can practice this with. Make a copy.

By using cause an effect it will highlight what a mechanism does.

Maths | Time Difference

I learnt how to find time differences.

First I started by adding 35 minutes to 1:50 then the time was 2:25. Then I added the hours but there were no hours so my time was zero hours hours and thirty five minutes difference.

I thought I was a bit slow finding time differences so I need more practise.

Manners | PB4L

Manners are used for showing respect to others.

You can use manners when someone greets you and give something to you.

Manners can be used when someone opens the door for you. Manners are also used when talking to your teachers etc.

Manners show that you are respectful and not rude.

some examples of manners are may i, please, thank you, your welcome, eye contact and a polite voice.

Manners should be used everywhere.

Time

We solved time equstions.

First we answered the questions.

After we showed how we worked out the answer.

Lastly we discussed our results with Mr Ogilvie.

I thought this task was esay because I know about time.

Simple Machines

We looked for simple machines in our school. They are: Inclined plane, wedge, lever, pulley, wheel and axel, and screw.

A inclined plane is used to move things from low ground to high ground.

A pulley is used tomove things from a high point to a low point just like our flag.

A lever is used to lift up heavy objects.

A screw is used to hold objects together.

A wedge is used to separate objects.

Wheel and axel helps move things easier.

Reading | Harry's War Keyword

All texts include a range of words to share information with the reader.

Key words are words are words that unlock hidden information.

key are used in a specific way. An example of a key word is conscientious objectors a reminder of conscientious objectors an individual who has claimed the right to refuse to perform military service.\

Key words can also summerise texts by telling the main point of the text.

Key words can expand your volabulary for example latrine is another word for toilet but a latrine doesin't flush.

key words can help people unlock main infromation.

Balancing

We did balancing activitys in our enviromint.

Today we took a range of photos to show balancing.

The first image was an image of my group balancing on a wall.

The second photo showed us balancing using play ground equipment.

The third photo showed us balancing using play ground equipment with the assistance of someone.

The forth showed us balancing using our group members.

The last photo showed us balancing while trying to have the least amount of contact with our group and the ground.

I need to work on my balancing because I keep on falling over.

Māori | Preposition

I learnt about preposition.

The first preposition I used was tenei for a picture next to me.

The next preposition I used was tena for a picture that was in front of someone else.

The last preposition I used was far away from me was tera.

I enjoyed this activity because I can use some of these preposition like can you get me a bag of chips from tera.

Explanation | The Luge

I learnt how to write an explanation about how something works. First I chose a topic to write an explanation about. I chose about how the Luge works.

After I wrote the introduction about my topic. The luge is a famous place in New zealand. It is in the sky line of rotura.

Next I wrote down the mechanisms about the Luge. The luge requires carts to ride on the track. This allows people to ride to the bottom. The luge also requires people to control the carts. This prevents the carts from falling off the edge and a track for the carts to ride on. This allows for the carts to ride easily.

Lastly I wrote down the summary. The luge requires carts for people to ride on people to control the carts and a track for the carts to ride on.

Next time I will try to be more specific with my mechanisims .

Balance

We learnt about balancing. We used different techniques to help us with it.

Balance is being in a steady position so you do not fall.

The first balance activity we did was balancing on a beam while people try cross it.

The second activity was balancing on a foot ball you had to stay in a steady position.

I wasn't very good at balancing on the football because big movments and couldnt regain balance.

Time

Today I learnt to tell the time.

First I started by reading the hour hand which was on the 6.

The I looked at the minute hand which was on the 3.

lastly I read the time which was 6:15

This activity helped me learn anolog time better than I did before since I always read digital time.

Simple Machines

Simple machines are tools that are used to make work easier. There are six diffrent simple machines: a wedge, a screw, a pulley, a lever, a incline plane, and a wheel and axle.

A wedge is simple machine it is a triangular shaped tool used to split things in half.

A screw is another simple machine that holds an object in place.

A pulley is simple machine that uses a rope and a wheel this tool is used to lift objects from a low point to high point.

A lever is used for lifing objects and measuring weight.

A incline plane simple machine that is also used to lift objects like a heavy box.

A wheel and axle is used to move heavy objects by pushing it to make it roll.
