Team Work

Teamwork is a term to describe a group of people working together to achieve a goal.

Teamwork conists of three main mechanisms.

Communication is talking to each other. An example of what communication is in dodgeball is when a team member's name gets called out to pass the ball.

Cooperation is working together for a common purpose or benefit. An example of collaboration is when the whole team works together to try and win the game.

Collaboration is working together. An example of what collaboration is in dodgeball is when someone throws the ball at someone and they are warned by their teamates.

To be succsessful as a team all three mechanisms need to be implemented throughout the activity.

SSR Selfie

I read 6 pages of The Scarecrow walks at midnight.

This book is about Jodie who visits her grandparents farm. This summer some weird things have happend on the farm. The corn field is sparse, the single scarecrow was replaced with 12 evil looking ones and the corn is infensted with worms.she is trying to find out whats happing to her grandparents farm.

I thought this was a good book and wish to read the whole seris.

Basic Facts Boxes

I completed a speed demon challenge up to 100. 

My time was 9 minutes and 37 seconds and my score was 100/100. 

I need to practice my basic facts boxes up to 100 because I think I could of gone faster.

Making Connections

Making connections is a reading strategy that involves text to text, text to self, and text to world. These help you make connections.

Text to self is comparing a character or text to yourself. An example of text to self is the horse carries all the food. He does this because he is doing his job. My job is to help carry the groceries.

Text to text is comparing a text to another text. An example of text to text is the horse to lets the highway rat ride him. He did this because he wants to help him. In the story little red riding hood she helps her grandma by bringing food to her.

Text to world is comparing a text or character to someting that happens around the world. An example of text to world is the horse to lets the highway rat steal his food. He did this because he doesn't want to fight. People let other people bully them because they don’t want to fight.

Making connectiosn can help people understand Text to Self, Text to Text and Text to world

Marc Duffy | Role Model

Marc Duffy is a Role Model that shares his story with schools.

During his time in school he was bullied because he read from right to left. Later in his life he ended in prison during his time in prison a teacher helped him learn to read from left to right. When he came out of prison he had his school certificate and a diploma in business.

Then he did boxing for five years. He defended the New Zealand Boxing lightweight champion fight for life for five years. When his daughter was born he quit boxing and learnt the trade of a builder and owned his own business.

He worked for Bunnings fitting their stores. Now he manages the largest Bunnings store in New Zealand which is in hamilton.

Then he went back to university to become a counsellor.

Marc Duffy is good Role Model because he is truthful, kind and hard working.

Multiplacation

Multiplacation is a faster way of adding the same numbers many times. The three, four and six time tables are examples of multiplacation.

Three times tables are multiplying three by a number of groups. The four times tables are multiplying four by a number of groups and the six times tables are multiplying six by a number of groups.

The times tables are an easy way to remember basic muliplacation equation. The next times tables are, 7, 8 and 9 times tables.

SSR Selfie | Nature's Deadlest Creatures

 I read 51 pages of Nature's Deadlest Creatures.

This book talks about animals and their danger levels, the higher the danger level the deadler the creatures. For example one drop of the Inland Taipan's venom is enough to kill 100 humans so it's danger level is a 5 which is the highest danger level.

I enjoyed this book because I leant more about harmful animals.

Today I completed a speed demon challenge up to 20.

I got 100/100 correct answers and my time was 5 minutes and 57 seconds.

My goal next time is to learn my times tables and division.

Cybersmart | Public vs Private

Information can be public or private.

 

Public information is information that could be shared with anyone. An example of public information is sharing your favorite food.

Private information is information that should not be shared with anyone. An example of private information is your bank card details.

Public information should be harmless and private information should be kept safe and not posted on the internet.

Reading | Character Trait

Character traits are the character's behavior and attitude that make up that their personality. There are three main characters that can be used to make a character trait about.

The horse is a helper in the story of the highway rat. 

The horse is he is cooperative this is shown when the horse and the duck rode down the mountain together.

The horse also show consideration when he did not step on the ants. This shows he thinks about others feelings.

The facts and the adjectives showed that the horse he is a considerate, cooperative helper in the story.

Character traits are usful for understanding characters behavior, attitude and personality.

Maori Haka | Aboriginal Haka

I learnt the diffrences and similairites between the Maori haka and the Aboriginal war cry.

I first watched a video that showed people doing the Haka and the Aboriginal war cry.

After I wrote the similairities based on what I saw on the video.

Next I wrote the diffrences.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt the diffrences and the similarities between the Maori Haka and the Aboriginal war cry. This helps me understand how each culture shares similarities and diffrences.

SSR Selfie | Natures Deadliest Creatures

For SSR selfie I read a book called Nature's Deadliest Creatures.

For this task you read the book for 15 minutes and answer questions like whats the main topic for this book and what are key pieces of the main topic.

The main topic is animals and the key pieces of the main topic how dangerous animals are. The animals are rated 1-5 on the danger scale the higher the number the deadlier the creatures, animals habitats and animals sizes.

I enjoyed reading this book because it has a lot of interesting facts.

Fact or Opinion

I completed a task based on the Highway Rat.

First I watched the movie so I could learn facts about the Highway Rat. Then I wrote facts like the horse didin't step on the ants.

After I did my opinions, an opinion is what you think of something. For example one my opinions is the horse doesn't want to hurt animals because it didin't step on the ants.

Next I searched adjectives that matched with my opinion. For example the horse didin't step on the ants because he is considerate, sympathetic ect.

This activity helped me use adjectives to describe their traits better.

Maths | Basic Facts Boxes

I completed a speed demon challenge. 

My score was 100/100. My time was 8 minutes and 39 seconds. 

I need to work on my basic fact to 20 because I could of completed it faster.

LI: to recall basic facts fluently and quickly.

Maths | Multiplacation

I completed a task based on multiplacation.

First I took a big group of an unknown amount of counters.

After I split the big group of counters into small groups of 9.

Next I counted the number of groups.

Then I used multiplication to figure out the unknown amount of counters which is 18.

Next I repeated the same thing for the other two sets of unkown numbers.

I like multiplacation it's a faster way of adding numbers.
